Dance In Education
The influences dance can have on an individual can be monumental, therefore Dance Division believe that Dance within Education imperative.
Dance Division offer dance education classes to Nurseries, Primary Schools and High Schools.
Within Scotland’s Curriculum for Excellence, dance is acknowledged as an expressive arts subject in it’s own right.
By using Dance Divisions qualified QTS teaching staff we are able to accomplish outcomes set out by the Scottish Government, by participating in Dance Divisions curriculum classes together we can enable children and young people to:
- Be creative and expressive themselves in different ways
- Develop important skills, both those specific to the expressive arts and those which are transferable
- Develop on appreciation of aesthetic and cultural values identities and ideas, and for some prepare for advanced learning and future careers by building foundations for excellence in the expressive arts
Aside from the obvious benefits such as improvements in fitness, healthier lifestyles and the improvements of blood pressure and cholesterol levels. Dance can help to make someone feel physically refreshed which improves their moods which can then help to tackle more serious issues such as anxiety.
Participation in dance can also help to develop the kinaesthetic memory, it allows for strength and endurance to be developed from a young age therefore creating a stable platform for a child’s physical development and level of fitness.
In addition to all of the above dance can improve a child’s cognitive development through socialisation and group work, in class children can learn to develop key life skills such as patience, listening and leadership skills as they work with each other to practice dance steps.
